Adding Youtube Videos To Your Go CMS Site.

So you’ve found a great video on Youtube you’d like to share, or have been thinking about getting a video produced for your site but didn’t know how to add it? Youtube and many other video sharing sites supply an ‘embed code’ which you can simply copy and paste to display videos on your site. Here’s a step-by step guide on how to add video to your site in minutes!

  1. Log into your CMS (Content Management System) and click ‘Variables’ on the left hand menu. On the Variables page, click the ‘Add Variable’ button in the top right.

  2. On the New Variable Page, type a name for your video, eg: video_product_demonstration.

  3. Next change the ‘Variable Type’ to ‘TEXT’ by clicking the dropdown menu. (You can choose a Category for your video to keep them organized or create a new category by typing in the empty field on the right.)

  4. Click the ‘Save and Continue Editing’ button in the top right. The page will reload and you’ll see a plain text box instead of a ‘WYSIWYG Editor’

  5. Keeping your CMS open, open a new tab in your web browser and visit Youtube.com to find the video you’d like to embed.

  6. Click the ‘Embed’ button below the video the embed code will become visible. You may customize the size of the video to go on your website or choose a predefined sizes. Once you’re happy with your options, select the code in the box and copy it (you can copy quickly by pressing “control” + “c”)

  7. Switch back to your CMS tab in your web browser and paste the code into the ‘Value’ text box area. Take note of your variable/video name and the key for it then click the ‘Apply Changes Online’ button in the top right.

  8. Click ‘Pages’ on the left menu and edit the page where you would like to embed your Youtube video.

  9. Click inside the ‘WYSIWYG Editor’ where you’d like the video to be displayed and type the video name variable key, eg: [video_product_demonstration]

  10. Click the ‘Apply Changes Online’ button and your Youtube video should now be displaying on your site.
